granulate water treatment

practical conditions:

The burning of mineral coal in power plants produces cinders / slag. The hot, liquid slag is chilled with cold water (from a river). Because of the abrupt cooling, the slag get solid and burst into pieces (like a splinter of glass).

The bigger pieces are removed with conveyors and screws. The smaller ones remain in the cooling water. A classifier separates the particles in mm-range.

All finer particles would remain in the water which flows back into the river. To ensure that the backflowing water has the same quality then the inflowing water, it is necessary to remove also these fine particles. For this fine-clarification Leiblein company delivered the lamella separators.

lamella separator

technical data:

inlet flow rate : 600 m³/h
waste inlet : big variety ø 0.7 ml/l / 40% < 50 µm
clarifying surface : 600 m²

The waste water is pumped into the middle channel of the separator, turns down, turns again up and flows through the lamellas upwards. The particles settle down onto the lamellas and slid down into the sludge funnel. A scraper prevent blocking of sludge. It is discharged in intervalls into a drainage container.
