practical conditions:
A manufacturer of vegetable canning has waste water in very fluctuating conditions. The reason is the saison-manufacturing. The flow rate and also the concentrations of the waste water are very fluctuating. This means extremely high waste water costs and also big problems in the municipal waste water plant.

lamella separator for waste water of a vegetable manufacturer |
To limit the waste load and to reduce the flow peaks a pre-separation was installed.
capacity:
| vegetable production | : 40,000 t/a (6 t/h) |
| products | : carrots, spinach, peas, beans, cultiflower, onions |
| capacity preseparation | : 75 m³/h |
| max. inlet concentration | : 20,000 - 40,000 mg/l COD |
| required outlet concentration | : max. 2,000 mg/l COD |
chosed process:
The dewatering screw is separating bigger particles (over 1 mm).
The lamella separator removes the fine particles. The fine particles / flocs separate onto the lamellas and slids into the sludge funnel. From time to time the sludge is discharged with a pump.
The last step is a biological treatment with aeration.
With this treatment the required outlet concentrations could be kept certainly. For example during manufacturing carrots the COD-value was reduced from 16,000 to 1,300 mg/l.
The Leiblein company delivered the lamella separator for this process.
technical data:
| clarification surface | : 100 m² |
| lamella distance | : 40 mm |
| material casing / lamellas | : steel coated / polypropylene |
| auxilliary equipment | : scraper, anti floating locking frost free heating of sludge funnel |
