Clarification of concrete washing water

practical conditions:

Increasing environmental requirements causes to develop a recycling plant for washing water from concrete trucks. The disposal of the washing water into the construction site or somewhere like this isn`t allowed anymore. Now the water has to be recycled.

For this application the following plant was developed. The scope of delivery of Leiblein company was the clarification by a lamella separator.

The mixing drums of the trucks are cleaned at the washing station. The washing water and the concrete residue is conveyed into the recycling plant. The different components are separated for further use.

In the grit classifyier the sand and the gravel is washed and separated.

The water and the finer particles are pumped to the waste water tank. An agitator prevents sedimentation and the setting of the concrete.

Several possibilities are available. One possibility is to pump the waste water to the concrete mixing station, to reduce fresh water. But it isn`t possible to use all the waste water like this. The rest of the water is treated in a lamella separator for further separation.

The smaller settleable particles (approx. bigger than 50 microns) are separated in the lamella separator and sink down into the sludge funnel. The purified water flows into the clear water tank. This water can be used as washing water or as fresh water. The sludge can be disposed or also used as a component of the (new) concrete.

What parts of the washing water and how much of it can be mixed into the new concrete depends on the required concrete quality.

To avoid blocking / compactation of the sludge in the lamella separator a scraper stirs the sludge. To avoid it in the sludge pipe the pump (eccentric screw pump with screw conveyer) is activated time by time. A sludge level sensor detects the sludge in the funnel.
